Company Sequoia Genetics а part of the group of companies Alkor Bio has received a grant from Skolkovo foundation

On November 23rd on the Grant Committee of the "Skolkovo" was introduced project "Multiplex duplex mediated analysis based on cleavable probes" from company Sequoia Genetics. The experts of Grant Committee unanimously decided to give the grant to company Sequoia Genetics in the amount of 22.5 mln. rubles for the implementation of its project.

Vitaly Vedernikov, Head of the project "Multiplex duplex mediated analysis based on cleavable probes" of the company Sequoia Genetics:

"The procedure of the grant receiving has taken about one and a half year, it was include a lot of expertise stages and drawing up a detailed description of the project - the so-called" Grant Memorandum ", which includes description of the problem to be solved, market analysis, the description of proposed technology, carefully designed roadmap and detailed project estimates.

The project will be implemented in the field of molecular diagnostics. Innovativeness of the approach is original detection scheme based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with subsequent melting of duplexes. Project mission is the development and commercialization of the technology, which is a platform for creation of diagnostic kits with a high degree of multiplexing. The proposed technology will allow to increase degree of multiplexing of the diagnostic Real-Time PCR-based test by at least 3 times in comparison with the widespread methods, such as TaqMan and Molecular Beacon. The technology doesn’t lead to  complication of assay procedure (introducing additional stages) and reducing its sensitivity. In the near feature, we are going to submit the application for an invention to the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks Regulations.

The project will be implemented within two years. Eventually we will develop diagnostic kit in multiplex format for the qualitative detection of 12 targets in a single tube on the basis of new technology and that will be only beginning…"
